Inventing The American Guitar is the first book to describe the early history of American guitar design in detail. It testifies how a European instrument was transformed into one with all of the design and construction features that define the iconic American "flat-top" steel string guitar of today. The one person who dominates this history is Christian Friedrich Martin, Sr., founder of C.F Martin & Company.

The book is approximately the size of an LP vinyl record jacket ( referred to as 'coffee table' style). The master photography of John Sterling Ruth throughout the 300+ pages is astounding! Simply a fascinating read -- both for the scholar and the average music fan. An "encyclopedia" such as this may come along but once-in-a-lifetime.

A masterpiece by any standard
