Kalamazoo Gals:
A Story of Extraordinary Women & Gibson's
"Banner Guitars" of World War II

Connecticut author/guitarist/law professor John Thomas authored this amazing story about the unacknowledged women who built Gibson's "Banner Guitars" during WWII. In January 1942, these untrained 'Kalamazoo Gals' simply walked into the Gibson factory to do their part for the war effort, temporarily replacing the men at Gibson. The Kalamazoo Gals ultimately returned to their homes after the war, leaving behind their "Banner Guitars" now highly sought after by today's players & collectors.

If you own a Gibson with the 'banner' logo pictured below,
a woman made it between 1942-45.
